Module 9 - GMDSS & Safety Equipment
Module completion standard
Mark GMDSS & Safety Equipment complete only when you can use it in a spoken scenario, not just when the terms look familiar.
The minimum standard is that you can build a correct, concise call, explain the channel or DSC choice, and identify what you would listen for next.
Key points
- I can explain How VHF fits alongside EPIRB, PLB, SART, AIS, Navtex, and other distress or safety information systems.
- I can apply GMDSS sea area A1, EPIRB and PLB, SART, AIS and Navtex to a realistic call.
- I can avoid this trap: Assuming one item of equipment guarantees rescue without registration, power, position, and follow-up.
- I know SRC revision does not replace the official course, exam, licence requirements, or practical radio operation standards.
