Module 4 - Channels & Frequencies
Calling, Distress, And DSC Channels
Channel 16 is the international distress, safety, and calling voice channel. Channel 70 is for DSC digital signalling, not voice. Confusing those two is one of the fastest ways to show weak SRC understanding.
A normal pattern is to call or be alerted using the appropriate calling or DSC route, then move to a working channel for the conversation when instructed or agreed.
