Module 5 - Routine Calls
Ending Cleanly
Routine calls often become untidy at the end. Use Over when you expect the other station to reply. Use Out when the exchange is complete and no reply is expected.
Do not say Over and Out together. It asks for a reply and ends the call at the same time.
Key points
- Over invites a reply.
- Out ends the exchange.
- Stand By means wait; I will call again.
- Read back critical instructions before ending.
