Module 4 - Channels & Frequencies
Channel Discipline
Channel discipline protects safety traffic. Listen before transmitting, keep the message brief, and do not use calling or distress channels for avoidable chatter.
If a channel is busy or the wrong service answers, pause and rebuild the call rather than talking over other stations.
Key points
- Listen before transmitting.
- Use correct priority and channel.
- Move to a working channel when appropriate.
- Return to the required listening watch afterwards.
