Choosing the Right Priority
The priority ladder is Mayday, Pan-Pan, then Securite. Choosing the right one prevents both under-reporting and unnecessary distress traffic.
If the situation worsens, upgrade the call. If it becomes grave and imminent danger, use Mayday.
