Spoken rehearsal standard
Radio procedure is a voice skill. Reading the right phrase silently is easier than saying it clearly while the boat is moving, someone is worried, and another station may be waiting. Practise aloud until the order sounds natural.
A strong spoken call is short, calm, and complete. Avoid filler, jokes, and half-calls. Use the phonetic alphabet for difficult names, give position in a usable format, and keep numbers slow enough that another station could write them down.

- Say the vessel name and call sign exactly as registered or briefed.
- Use standard words: Over invites a reply; Out ends the exchange; do not say both together.
- Read numbers slowly and use accepted pronunciations where relevant.
- If you make a mistake, correct it plainly rather than restarting in a panic.
